Jamie Baulch enjoyed a career spanning 15 years at the top of world-class athletics and was without a doubt one of GB’s greatest ever 400m sprinters.
He made his debut for the GB & NI team at a Junior International in Spain in 1991.
Jamie Baulch burst onto the international scene by winning the 200m and breaking the Welsh record.
In his first year of competing, he was elected for the 1996 Olympic Games and won a silver medal as part of the 4x400m quartet, which also included fellow Great British Speaker Roger Black.
He still holds the British Indoor record over 400m set in 1997, and he became World Indoor Champion in 1999.
In all, Jamie Baulch won 11 medals at Olympic Games, World and European Championships, and Commonwealth Games.

ATHLETICS
Jamie Baulch made his debut in 1991, winning the 200m and breaking the Welsh record, but soon changed his distance preference to 400m; he particularly excelled at running the distance indoors.
He went on to win gold at the 1999 World Indoor Championships, followed by a silver and bronze at the next two games respectively.
He set a new European record in 1996 for his run at the Olympic games, winning the 4x400m team a silver medal.
He would go on to set more Welsh records over the years, and really peaked in 1999 when he won all of this five competitions at 400m.
He professionally competed until 2005, by which point he had won;
a gold medal at the World Junior Championships in the 4x100m,
a World Cup gold and silver in the 4x400m,
a silver in the 1996 Olympics in 4x400m,
one gold and two silver medals in the 400m at the World Indoor Championships,
a gold in the 4x400m at the World Championships,
two golds in the 4x400m at the European Championships,
and a silver and bronze in the 4x400m at the Commonwealth Games.
During his career, Jamie Baulch developed into one of the big personalities of the British athletics team, recognised by his peroxide dreadlocks for many years, which led to a promotional campaign with Vidal Sassoon.

AFTER RETIREMENT
Since retiring in 2005, Jamie ha been involved with a number of companies, some of which he set up himself.
Jamie Baulch has worked in consulting roles for The Celtic Manor Hotel and Spa, The Jaguar Academy of Sport, and for Call Bruce agency, and has held a number of positions for the men’s tailor Crow and Jester, Welsh Rugby Memorabilia, Jamie Baulch Academy and Definitive Sports.
In 2018 Jamie Baulch founded BidAid, a fundraising resource for charities and their sponsors and celebrity supports.
He has worked with charities including Alzheimer’s Research UK, Barnardo’s, Cancer Research UK, and Maggies.
Then in 2020, he founded uWin, a way of using the internet to elevate charities’ fundraising potential by making all once-in-a-lifetime experiences accessible to all in the name of a good cause.

Since retiring in 2005, Jamie has regularly appeared on TV and radio.

In the runup to the London 2012 Olympic games, Jamie took part in a special episode of Dancing on Ice, featuring medal-winning athletes.
In 2014, he appeared in the BBC documentary Looking For My Birth Mum, following Jamie’s search for his birth parents after being adopted as a baby.
His enthusiasm makes him a popular choice for endorsements with brands such as;

CHARITY WORK
Jamie Baulch is involved with a number of charities, including Barnardo’s, Cancer Wales, Adoption UK, and children’s hospice Ty Hafan.
He hasn’t fully turned his back on sport, and frequently participates in numerous charity challenges, such as road cycling.
Endeavours include joining Geraint Thomas on a promotional video for the Shelter Cymru, Castles to Cathedrals 100-mile bike ride.
Jamie Baulch is very heavily involved with a charity called Hope and Homes For Children, which reconnects separated children with their parents.
