Brian McBride is a former professional football player who played as a forward for the USA national team, and clubs including Everton, Fulham, Wolfsburg. Brian began his career at Milwaukee Rampage, which saw him score 17 goals and assist 18 in 18 games.

Kicking off his professional career with Columbus Crew, he established himself as a key player. This earned him a call up for the USA national team in 1993 and he went on to earn more than 90 caps, scoring 30 goals for his country. He is one of the USA men’s national team’s all time top scorers.

Brian represented the USA national team at the 1998, 2002 and 2006 FIFA World Cups. He scored at the 1998 and 2002 World Cups, becoming the first American to score at more than one World Cup tournament. In 2000, Brian had his first loan spell in England, where he played under David Moyes for Preston North End. After a successful loan at Preston, Preston attempted to buy him, but the bid was rejected. Two years later, David Moyes signed Brian for Everton.

In 2004, McBride signed for Premier League Fulham. In the second half of the 2003-04 season, he played 18 games and scored 5 goals. His first full season saw him play 31 games, scoring 9 goals. With 12 goals in 2006-07, Brian was Fulham’s top goalscorer for their Premier League campaign. In 2007, he was given captaincy for the club for the upcoming season.

After becoming a fan favourite, he won the 2007 and 2008 Fulham Player of the Year award, and his legendary status at the club meant he later had a bar inside Fulham’s Craven Cottage stadium named after him.

In 2008, Brian returned to the USA, where he played for Chicago Fire. In his final game, he scored his 80th MLS goal.
