Andy Halliday is a former international hockey player and manager of England and Great Britain men’s hockey teams, as well as a former Specialist Firearms Officer at the Met Police. Andy now applies his skills as a coach, facilitator and keynote speaker.
Andy joined the Metropolitan Police when he was 18 years old. Here he developed his policing skills in a pressurised environment of 1980s London. After an initial period on the beat in Tottenham, he became a riot training instructor for seven years before transferring to the tactical Firearms Unit.
Spending more than three decades in pursuit of best practice in high performance environments, Andy understands what it takes to thrive and succeed, as well as the challenges faced by individuals and organisations from teenagers all the way up to executives in large businesses.
Andy has been interviewed on many podcasts, talking about topics including growth mindset, stress reframing, learning from mistakes and his experience managing GB men’s hockey team and 30 years policing in London.
Andy is a fascinating speaker, drawing on his experiences Policing London, fighting terrorism and dealing with the 2005 bombings, as well as his long career as an international hockey player.

Andy Halliday participated in almost 3,000 firearms operations during his 18 years as a Specialist Firearms Officer. Andy regularly dealt with life-threatening situations and terrorism in both a domestic and global role.
The highly pressured environment developed situational awareness and decision-making skills, as well as the ability to plan, think ahead, adapt and react. Working with a mindset of adaptability and an appreciation of robust self-reflection but also team reflection, Andy was a successful part of many successful team operations.

In 2019 Andy joined Cleartrack as a qualified executive coach and workshop facilitator, supporting both public and private sector clients to develop an awareness of ‘human factors’ in the workplace.

Andy Halliday | GB Hockey
For Andy Halliday, the opportunity to manage the GB Men’s Olympic hockey team at London in 2012 was the pinnacle of an enthralling journey. At the end of the Tokyo Olympics , Andy stepped away from managing the Men’s GB Hockey team after 16 years with England and GB Hockey. His involvement with hockey continues with a Performance Hockey coaching role at Framlingham College in Suffolk.
Andy Halliday | Supporting Charity
Andy is an ambassador for Hockey4Heroes, a charity that raises money for injured members of the Armed Forces. He dribbled a ball 200 miles from Cardiff to London in support of Hockey4Heroes ‘Operation Stretcher’ in 2017. Andy is also a mentor on the Pathfinder scheme at Help4Heroes, and an ambassador for Access Sport and Disability hockey.
