More About

Karl Dickson’s rugby career started as a player when at Barnard Castle School, before graduating from the Bedford Blues Academy System.

In 2004 he was promoted to their senior team, making over 100 appearances before joining Harlequins in 2009.

He would continue play for them until 2017, when he announced his retirement from professional rugby playing.

During this time, he also played for the England Squad, appearing in the 2012 Six Nations and their South Africa tour.

But his time on a rugby pitch didn’t end there.

He made his refereeing debut at the Reigate School 7s in 2014 whilst gaining his qualifications.

In May 2017, it was announced he would join the Rugby Football Union’s Professional Game Match Officials Team (PGMOT), and he made his international refereeing debut in October 2020.

Karl Dickson’s unique perspective from playing and refereeing gives him an unparalleled understanding of the sport, and it’s this dual insight which has contributed to his popularity in the rugby community.

This experience also makes him a popular choice to speak at sporting events.
