Katya Jones is a Russian dancer, choreographer and environmentalist. She is best known as a professional dancer on Strictly Come Dancing, which she won in 2017. As of April 2026, Katya is the longest-serving female professional on the show.
Katya made history in 2020 for being part of the show’s first ever same sex partnership with boxer Nicola Adams. She was also nominated for a BAFTA alongside former politician Ed Balls for their “TV Moment of the Year” for their Gangnam Style routine.
A two-time world champion in Latin American dancing and an eight-time British National Champion, Katya’s exceptional talent and magnetic personality have made her a fan favourite and a trailblazer in the dance world.

Born in Russia, Katya Jones’ dance story kicked off in Saint Petersburg where she began dancing at just six years old. She went on to train in both ballroom and Latin, as well as gymnastics, and soon hit the competition circuit. Over the years she as been the Latin American Dancing World Champion twice, and British National Champion in Latin American Dancing an impressive eight times!
She joined Strictly Come Dancing in 2016 and was paired with former politician Ed Balls, and it was this partnership that through her into the spotlight, getting Ed sixth place. The following year, she partnered actor Joe McFadden, and together they went on to win the show. Other celebrity partners include Seann Walsh, Mike Bushell, Adam Peaty, Tony Adams, Nigel Harman, Wynne Evans, and Lewis Cope.
Katya is now a popular figure and has collaborated with a number of brands and charities, serving as ambassador for Cancer Research UK, Magic, Oxfam, Para Dance, and National Numeracy.
She has also appeared on television shows including Celebrity MasterChef (2022), Celebrity Hunted (2023), and in the short film Dakota Stone (2025).
