Andrew Cotter was originally a presenter of sports bulletins on 5Live, as well as Radio 1, 2 and 4, he then became one of the regular sports presenters on the BBC News Channel, whilst at the same time building a career as one of brightest commentators on golf and ruby for BBC Radio. Andrew has covered nearly every sporting event, including golf’s The Open Championship, The Masters, The Ryder Cup and The US Open, rugby’s Six Nations, World Cup, Heineken Cup, and the Autumn Test Series, tennis’ Wimbledon, The Australian Open, and The Davis Cup, various athletics championships, plus the Commonwealth Games, Olympic Games, and The Boat Race.

He is not just a commentator, but also an experienced TV presenter, having fronted the BBC’s coverage of The Dunhill Links, Rugby Special, and the Women’s British Open Golf.

He is also an accomplished speaker, who has hosted and spoken at events for organisations, including Barclays, BIGGA, BMW, Canon, Ernst and Young, FastTrack, HSBC, IMG, Investec, Mastercard, Mercedes Benz, RBS, Ricoh, the Scottish Rugby Union, Scottish Tourism, Synergy, and The Wooden Spoon.

He has also been a contributing writer to various golf magazines and newspapers, including writing a monthly column for Today’s Golfer magazine.

Andrew Cotter – Olive and Mabel

Alongside his sporting work, Andrew has written and presented about the four-legged members of his family – Olive and Mabel. In 2021 and 2022, Andrew, Olive and Mabel went around the UK on tour, providing hilarious anecdotes involving his dogs. During lockdown, he posted ‘contests’ between the dogs alongside his tongue-in-cheek commentary online. This series gained over 90 million views across social media, and Olive and Mabel have become stars of their own.

In connection with this online series, he published Olive, Mabel & Me: Life and Adventures with Two Very Good Dogs in 2020, containing the story of both dogs, how they came to be his, their life now, their unexpected rise to stardom, and how they deal with their new-found fame. The following year, he published Dog Days: A Year With Olive & Mabel. This book took a diary format, and explored how the three of them got through an entire year of lockdown.
