Lloyd Wallace

Lloyd Wallace is a GB freestyle aerial skier, and, amazingly, is not the first member of his family to compete at an Olympic Games.

In fact, he is the fifth, after his mother Jilly and father Robin, both freestyle skiers, his grandfather Peter Curry who ran in the 3,000m steeplechase, and his uncle Shaun who competed in track cycling.

Whilst still competing, Lloyd is also an athlete manager for a talent booking agency, helping care for young up-and-coming athletes.

More About

What makes Lloyd Wallace’s story even more impressive is that he competed at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympic Games just six months after being placed in an induced coma, becoming the first Brit to compete in the event for over 20 years.

He would once again show the world what he’s made of by becoming the first British athlete to land two quadruple-twisting triple somersaults at the 2022 Winter Olympics.

He wasn’t always a skier, though. His first love was gymnastics, but he moved to the slops when he was a teenager after trying it on a family holiday, and the rest, they say, is history.

By the time he was 20 years old, he was competing on an international level and won a bronze medal at the 2015 Freestyle Junior World Ski Championships.

Later that year, he won gold and silver medals at the Freestyle Europa Cup.

But it very nearly ended there. Whilst training for the Winter Games in 2017, he suffered from an horrific crash and was put into an induced coma.

He spent two months recovering before making his way back out on the slopes.
