More About
Susie Wolff | Background
You could say that motorsport is in Susie Wolff’s blood.
Growing up, her parents ran a motorcycle dealership and her father raced bikes competitively.
As a child, she often went biking and go-carting, but realised she had to be a racing driver when she saw her first Formula 3 race when she was 13.
She went to University, but left after a year, and within a week she was driving for Formula Renault at Silverstone.
Within a year she made her debut in the full Formula Renault UK Championships.
She finished ninth in the 2003 championships, securing her first podium finish; this was increased to fifth on the podium in 2004.
In 2006, she began to compete in the DTM, racing for Mücke Motorsport, a feat she copied the following year.
She would continue to appear in the DTM until 2012, when she left to focus on Formula One.
She was named as the development driver for the Williams Formula One team, and even became the first woman to participate in a F1 weekend since 1992.
She stayed with F1 until 2015, announcing she felt she had gone as far as she could go, but she still wanted to help other women get into motorsport.

Whilst she left competitive racing, she didn’t turn her back on motorsport, becoming an ambassador for Mercedes-Benz.
In 2018, Susie Wolff was appointed Team Principal and Shareholder of ROKiT Venturi Racing, marking her first formal move into team management.
In 2021 she was promoted to Chief Executive Officer of Monaco’s only racing team, but in 2022, following the team’s most successful season to date, she announced her departure from Formula E.
Since 2023, Susie has been the Manging Director of the F1 Academy, the all-female driver category that aims to develop and prepare young female drivers to progress to the higher levels of competition.
Susie Wolff – Dare To Be Different
After she retired, Susie co-founded Dare To Be Different alongside Motor Sports Association CEO Rob Jones.
Officially launched at the Autosport International Show 2016, the organisation aims to increase the participation of women at all levels of motorsport.
Holding events up and down the UK, the initiative invites girls between eight and fourteen to participate in moto racing-related activities.
In 2019, they united with the FIA Girls on Track initiative, raising awareness to the opportunities for girls in motorsport.
